Product Description


Diopside was first described by the Brazilian mineralogist Jose Bonifacio in 1800, but under the name Coccolit . As localities it gave to the iron mines of Hellesta and Åssebro in the Swedish province of Södermanland. Later, however, it was possible to prove that the Andradas mineral was identical to that described in 1806 by Rene Just Hauy. and the name Coccolit was dropped
