Vanadinite was considered a rare mineral. Discovered by Andrés Manuel del Rio, in 1830, in Zimapán (Mexico).
It is a very heavy but fragile mineral. It is usually Transparent or translucent.
Its crystals can lose their brightness and transparency if they are exposed to light.
